Chapter 335: Fourth Superpower Card
Chapter 335: Fourth Superpower Card
"How is that possible?!"
Alistair White stared in shock at the person before him.
"How could someone have four Superpowers at the same time?!"
"Impossible... This is impossible! How do you have a Gold Element Superpower?"
Alistair White was so stunned he even forgot to attack.
"I didn’t have it before, but I do now."
’And an Intermediate Gold Element Superpower, at that.’
This was one of the reasons Nina Jacobs hadn’t used the "Fourth Superpower Card" the system had given her.
Her existing Superpowers were more than enough.
By saving it and not choosing a new power, she could respond to unexpected situations like this one.
"Are you saying you just awakened a Gold Element Superpower?!"
Alistair White found it even harder to believe.
"You’re not Summer Warner, are you?!
You’re from the Mystic Sect! A descendant of an Ancient Martial Clan!
You’re the Inheritor they’re looking for?!"
Alistair White yelled.
He suddenly understood.
The person who awakened a Superpower in Mornfell wasn’t necessarily someone who had no Superpowers before.
’It could also be someone with multiple elements!’
Nina Jacobs frowned upon hearing this. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
’Is he talking about that prophecy Magnus York mentioned?’
’Magnus York said the Inheritor would awaken a Superpower in Mornfell.’
’So this Alistair White thinks I’m the Inheritor?’
"Who are you?! And what is this Inheritance?"
Alistair White’s eyes were wide.
He only wished Veronica Ziegler had come with him.
’Summer Warner is actually the Inheritor!’
Nina Jacobs looked at him, having no intention of answering his questions.
"Shouldn’t you be more worried about yourself?"
A Gold Spike shot into Alistair White’s thigh. Nina Jacobs suddenly thought that this Gold Element Superpower wasn’t half bad.
Alistair White cried out in pain.
"You’re not going to kill me?"
He thought she would have dealt a fatal blow.
"You and Magnus York don’t seem like peripheral members. You must know quite a bit, right?"
Nina Jacobs took out a sheet of Talisman Paper.
She still had two of Sherry Renner’s "Truth-telling Talismans" left.
She hadn’t had a chance to use one when she killed Magnus York, but she could certainly use one here.
"You—"
Alistair White wanted to say more, but Nina Jacobs’s next series of actions made him hurt too much to make a sound.
A few minutes later, looking at Alistair White’s dazed eyes, Nina Jacobs finally asked:
"Who is the head of your Aegis Conclave? Or, the leader."
Alistair White took a long moment to respond, even showing a confused expression as he said, "I don’t know."
’He doesn’t know?’
’Does The Aegis Conclave keep secrets even from its own members?’
’Or is Alistair White just not high-ranking enough to know?’
"What factions has The Aegis Conclave been working with recently?"
Alistair White: "The Mystic Sect, and... and Arisdale Base."
"Is The Aegis Conclave in Arisdale Base too? What does the Mystic Sect plan to do after finding the Inheritor?"
Nina Jacobs thought for a moment. She’d heard from Chase Gallagher before that besides the Drakonian Command Headquarters, there were many other factions inside Arisdale Base.
’Does that mean one of those factions is working with The Aegis Conclave?’
"We’re at Arisdale Base, but our headquarters isn’t there.
Veronica Ziegler said that after finding the Inheritor, we kill them to seize the Inheritance."
"So what exactly is this Inheritance?"
Nina Jacobs asked with a frown.
’So the Mystic Sect is just planning to kill for treasure.’
"The Inheritance? They don’t know what it is either.
Maybe it’s a key? Or maybe a chest of omnipotent treasures.
In any case, whoever gets the Inheritance will surely be able to get whatever they desire."
Alistair White replied.
"You arranged for people to go to Keldorn. Besides Trey Windslow’s group, where is the next rendezvous point, and who are you meeting?"
"Aurelion. Griston. Give Magnus York’s name, and someone will meet you."
Hearing Alistair White’s words, Nina Jacobs finally understood. So, Magnus York’s group was also heading to Keldorn next.
"And who is this Dr. Gray you mentioned? He doesn’t sound like a Drakonian. What are they researching?"
Nina Jacobs asked again.
"Dr. Gray researches the Superpowers of Superpower Users. In the future, he’ll make it possible for everyone to awaken multiple Superpowers.
Dr. Gray is from Aeridor. He’s a great researcher."
Alistair White had a look of pure adoration on his face.
"An Aeridorian researching Drakonians? Don’t you find that inappropriate?"
In her past life, someone had stepped forward to expose The Aegis Conclave for conducting illegal human experiments. But due to a lack of evidence, and the fact that public opinion was meaningless in the apocalypse, the matter was simply dropped.
But Nina Jacobs had always remembered it.
By then, The Aegis Conclave had already grown into a massive organization with roots in bases all across Drakonia, and it had many supporters.
Alistair White shook his head. "That has nothing to do with me. All I know is that everyone says this transcends national borders. It’s for the good of all humankind."
Nina Jacobs shook her head. It seemed she couldn’t reason with Alistair White.
"How many people from the Mystic Sect are still near Mornfell?"
Nina Jacobs was still concerned about the Inheritance.
This time, however, Alistair White didn’t answer.
Nina Jacobs then realized he had taken his last breath.
’Did I go too far?’
Nina Jacobs felt a tinge of regret.
She stripped the Golden Silk Jade Armor from Alistair White’s corpse.
The Golden Silk Jade Armor was cool to the touch. Compared to the Golden Silk Armor she had made from Diamond Sand, this armor was much softer.
She guessed this was what had saved Alistair White’s life earlier.
After stowing the Golden Silk Jade Armor in her inventory, the system displayed a notification:
[Host has completed an act of self-defense. "The Best Defender" title triggered. Reward: "Alloy Block"!]
[Detected that Host’s actions will save 46 human lives in several days. "Selfless Savior" title triggered. Reward: 46 bottles of "Healing Potion".]
Nina Jacobs looked at the silver Alloy Block in her hand.
In her past life, she had heard that alloys were the sturdiest material created by the Gold Element Superpower, but only a few Advanced Gold Element Superpower Users could form them.
This Alloy Block, much like Diamond Sand, could likely be formed into various weapons using her Superpower.
She had received another one just after killing Magnus York.
Just then, she heard shouts from outside.
It was Holden Shaw and the others, looking for her.
When Adrian Shaw and his group arrived in the underground cavern, they discovered that Mystic Ice Cores could be found everywhere.
"Here, for you guys."
Before the others came down, Nina Jacobs had already taken all the detectors out of her inventory.
"What’s this?"
Leo Hale held a detector, and upon turning it on, he found that it started beeping.
"It’s a detector. Look at your feet."
Nina Jacobs reminded him.
Only then did Leo Hale realize he was standing on several Mystic Ice Cores.
"Holy crap, this place is full of treasure."
Shirley Lucas, holding a detector, found quite a few in the crevices of the walls.
With the detectors, the group found more than 600 Mystic Ice Cores in the cavern.
The sky began to darken. "It’s too late to go back now. Why don’t we rest here tonight and search the area again tomorrow?" Adrian Shaw suggested.
He believed there were probably more cores they had missed above the underground cavern.
Nina Jacobs naturally agreed. After all, the observation station was a suitable place for everyone to rest.
"I really didn’t expect them to end up like this."
Shirley Lucas sighed with emotion. The whole matter had been resolved just like that.
A group of people had turned on each other, and they had reaped the benefits.
Although Nathan Moreau hadn’t been able to kill Magnus York with her own hands, she felt a sense of closure when she saw his body.
Night fell. Nina Jacobs lay alone in a break room beneath the observation station.
Remembering a biography of a Drakonian Ancient Martial Clan she had obtained from the zombie Icarus Golding’s dimensional space, Nina Jacobs took it out.
But after reading only a few pages, she drifted off into a deep sleep.
